Programs
Can you believe it? Happy 2025. Wishing you a year of learning, creating and lots of sewing. Let’s get all of our projects finished. Lorraine and I will be working together to present programs and workshops that you will enjoy and learn new things. January Program is our annual discussion of what we liked and didn’t like in the past year. But mainly what we would like to see in this coming year-activities, programs and workshops. Please give some thought to what you would like to learn and participate in. Our hope is that we will come up with some new ideas. January Workshop is charity work. We will work on donated fabrics that will be used for charity quilts. We will be sorting, ironing and cutting fabrics. There is no charge. February Program will be the guild’s board members and past presidents showcasing their favorite quilt. February Workshop we will be working on heart blocks for quilts that may be needed in the future. There is no charge and fabrics will be provided. March Program we will be playing “strip poker” not the kind that you need to layer up your clothing lol. It will be played similar to “Left, Center, Right” using 2 1/2” strips of fabric- bring your own or the guild will provide them. March Workshop we will have a strip race making quilts for charity using strips from the Strip Poker. More 2 1/2 strips will be provided. There will be a prize for the first person to finish sewing their strips together. It’s a lot of fun and I’ve even heard it gets competitive at times. There is no charge. April Program we will have the pleasure of Laurie Hancock sharing her beautiful quilts in a trunk show. She will also show quilts with raw edge appliqué and turned under appliqué leading into the workshop the next day. April Workshop features Belinda Evans teaching the techniques for raw edge appliqué and turned under appliqué. You will choose which technique you would like to use to create the project she has selected. The cost is $10. May Program Robin Davis will join us to show examples of Crazy Quilting creations in a trunk show. I’m sure she will have some amazing examples. May Workshop Robin Davis will return to teach techniques of crazy quilting. We all know how talented she is so I’m sure you will learn a lot of tips and tricks in her class. The cost is $25 June Program will be our Annual Silent Auction so start thinking what you would like to clear out of your sewing space. All proceeds go to the guild. June Workshop- to be determined July Program- Those participating in the challenge quilt will bring them to the meeting and members will vote on their favorite. There will also be discussion about the upcoming quilt show. The annual picnic will take the place of our workshop. - 9 PROGRAMS (Continued) August program we will start the evening with a potluck dinner and have a discussion about the quilt show. August workshop- To be determined September program- Winners of the quilt show will be presented with their ribbons and viewers’s choice will be announced October program- To be determined October workshop-To be determined November program we will be presenting donations to our chosen charity groups plus we will have our annual cookie exchange There will be no Workshop in November December is the guild‘s annual Christmas party. There is no meeting and no workshop the month of December. The workshops are on Tuesday after our guild meeting. The workshop begins at 9:30am in the Historical Chapel. Bring your own lunch.
